All Progressives Congress In Anambra Writes Police Commissioner, Insists No Factions In Party

December 21, 2021
The office of the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has made known a letter it wrote to the The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Awka declaring that there is no factionalisation in the party and urging the Command to bring to justice those behind the purported mini crisis.
In the letter dated 16th December 2021 and signed by Senator John James Akpanuodehe who is the Secretary and head of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, the party as a matter of fact reconfirmed its leadership under Honourable Basil Ejidike.
An excerpt of the letter titled ‘Re: Clarification of the State Of Our Party Leadership In Anambra State’ stated:
“In recent times, the National Secretariat of our party had been inunduated with reports of activities of some dissidents and fifth columnists within the fold of our party in Anambra State.
“Therefore, this correspondence becomes imperative, not only to clarify the facts that there is no factionalisation of the party in Anambra, but also to call on your office to use the resources at their disposal to curtail such nefarious activities and bring the culprits to book.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Honourable (Sir) Basil Ejidike is the State Chairman of APC in Anambra State and has the mandate of the National Secretariat to relate with the security agencies on our behalf on all matters pertaining to his state chapter.
“Please kindly accord him the necessary protection as he carries out his lawful activities.
Thank you for your usual cooperation.
The Anambra State Police Commissioner Echeng Eworo Echeng in October 2021 became the fourth Anambra Police Chief in the state within eight months.
Echeng became the 32nd police Commissioner in the history of the state, taking over from Tony Olofu who was consequently transferred to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
