President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound joy over the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted from Orire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, praising the coordinated efforts of the nation’s security agencies that secured their freedom after 56 days in captivity, Prime Business Africa reports.
In a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force for conducting a sustained, intelligence-led operation that rescued the victims without collateral damage.

According to the Presidency, the operation led to the arrest of eight suspected abductors, while several others were neutralised during the rescue mission, marking a significant breakthrough in efforts to combat kidnapping and violent crimes targeting schools.
President Tinubu acknowledged the emotional and psychological toll the abduction had taken on the pupils, their teachers, their families and the nation, describing their safe return as a source of immense national relief.
“I am profoundly happy that our security forces successfully rescued the abducted pupils and teachers from Orire, Ogbomoso, in Oyo State today after a military, police and intelligence-driven operation that neutralised some of the terrorists that perpetrated the evil act and led to the arrest of eight of them,” the President said.
He noted that the operation had brought an end to more than 50 days of anxiety and uncertainty, while demonstrating the value of close collaboration among the military, intelligence agencies and the police in tackling insecurity.

The President also vowed that all those responsible for the abduction would be brought to justice, including those linked to the killing of Mr. Oyedokun during the incident.
“My government will get justice for these children and their teachers and for the family of Mr. Oyedokun, who the terrorists gruesomely murdered,” Tinubu said.
The President further commended the Oyo State Government for its cooperation throughout the rescue efforts and urged the state to strengthen security around schools to safeguard students, teachers and other education workers against future attacks.
Tinubu also directed relevant emergency agencies to work with the Oyo State Government to provide the rescued pupils and teachers with immediate medical care, psychosocial support and other relief services to aid their recovery and reintegration.
The successful rescue represents a major boost to ongoing security operations against kidnappers and offers relief to affected families after weeks of uncertainty.
