According to the Presidency, the successful rescue followed a sustained, intelligence-led operation by security agencies, which resulted in the arrest of eight suspected abductors, while several others were neutralised during the mission.

President Tinubu commended the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their efforts, describing the operation as a significant breakthrough.

The President also vowed that all those responsible for the abduction would be brought to justice, including those linked to the killing of Mr. Oyedokun during the incident.

“My government will get justice for these children and their teachers and for the family of Mr. Oyedokun, who the terrorists gruesomely murdered,” Tinubu said.

He also directed relevant emergency agencies to work with the Oyo State Government to provide the rescued pupils and teachers with immediate medical care, psychosocial support and other relief services to aid their recovery.

The successful rescue marks a major milestone in efforts to tackle school-related kidnappings and offers renewed hope that sustained collaboration between security agencies and state governments can improve the protection of schools and vulnerable communities across the country.
