Over N406bn Gained In Stock Market As FTN Cocoa, Academy’s Shares Appreciate

On Thursday, July 24, the stock market capitalisation increased by N406.48 billion after the all-share index (ASI) appreciated by 0.56 percent or 748.26 basis points.

At the end of trading, the market capitalisation increased from N83.85 trillion on Wednesday, July 23, to N84.26 trillion, while the ASI expanded from 132,451.73 ASI to 133,199.99 ASI.

Investors up their trading activities to 818,38 million shares, traded in 22,955 deals, valued at N22,66 billion, against the 681.24 million shares traded in 26,931 deals, valued at N17.01 billion, on Wednesday.

Top five gainers

  • FTN Cocoa share price increased by N0.60 kobo, to rise from N6 to N6.60 kobo per share.
  • Academy’s share value grew by N0.77 kobo, from N7.70 kobo to N8.47 kobo per share.
  • Sovereign Insurance ended trading at N.43 kobo per share, from N1.30 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.13 kobo.
  • RT Briscoe gained N0.34 kobo to end trading at N3.75 kobo, having opened with N3.41 kobo.
  • TIP’s share value was up by N1.33 kobo, after closing at N14.67 kobo from N13.34 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Associated Bus Transport’s share price depreciated by N0.51 kobo, dwindling from N5.10 kobo to N4.59 kobo per share.
  • John Holt recorded a N0.90 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N8.10 kobo after opening with N9 per share.
  • Union Dicon lost N1 in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N9 from N10 per share.
  • IMG reported a decline of N4.20 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N42.45 kobo to end trading at N38.25 kobo per share.
  • NSLTECH recorded a N0.10 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N0.93 kobo after opening with N1.03 per share.

  • Japaul Gold reported that 83.78 million shares valued at N231.76 million were traded on its floor.
  • UBA recorded 73.08 million shares valued at N3.40 billion.
  • Access Holdings saw investors trade 65 million of its shares valued at N1.85 billion.
  • Consolidated Hallmark recorded 55.70 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N169.05 million.
  • Nigerian Breweries reported 41.10 million shares valued at N2.97 billion exchanged in investors’ hands.
