NGX Market Cap Down By N606bn, Traders Seal N50bn Deals

The value of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), also known as the stock market, dropped to N125.75 trillion on Wednesday, March 11, below the N125.85 trillion reported on Tuesday, March 10.

The N107.58 billion decrease was driven by a 0.08 percent decline in the all-share index (ASI).

According to the NGX, the ASI depreciated by 167.58 basis points, from 196,066.11 index to 195,898.53 ASI.

Over 671.27 million shares were exchanged in 58,792 deals on the trading floor at the value of N26.13 billion, compared to the 746.85 million shares traded in 65,275 deals, worth N27.84 billion, the previous day.

Top five gainers

  • NGX Group’s share price increased by N16.95 kobo to rise from N169.50 kobo to N186.45 kobo per share.
  • Lotus Hal15’s share value grew by N11.61 kobo, from N116.17 kobo to N127.78 kobo per share.
  • Premier Paints ended trading at N19.40 kobo per share, from N17.65 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N1.75 kobo.
  • Omatek’s share appreciated by N0.23 kobo to end trading at N2.80 kobo, having opened with N2.57 kobo.
  • Prestige’s share value was up by N0.13 kobo, after closing at N1.68 kobo from N1.55 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • FGSUK2033S6’s share price depreciated by N39.79 kobo, dwindling from N139.99 kobo to N100.20 kobo per share.
  • FGSUK2031S4 recorded a N16.06 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N78.93 kobo after opening with N95 per share.
  • Presco recorded a N231.50 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N2,083.90 kobo after opening with N2,315.40 kobo per share.
  • UAC Nigeria lost N11.55 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N104.2 kobo from N115.80 kobo per share.
  • Morison reported a decline of N1.20 kobo from the previous share price of N12.07 to end trading at N10.87 kobo per share.

  • Wema Bank reported that 106.36 million shares valued at N2.75 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Access Holdings recorded 59.02 million shares valued at N1.47 billion.
  • Mutual Benefit saw investors trade 38.49 million of its shares valued at N183.18 million.
  • Fortis Global Insurance recorded 32.74 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N40.28 million.
  • Sterling Financial Holdings reported that traders exchanged 30.20 million shares valued at N219.12 million.
