The Nigerian Exchange (NGX), also known as the stock market, recorded a N119.03 billion gain on Friday, March 6, after the market valuation of the bourse increased to N126.43 trillion, from the N126.31 trillion reported on Thursday, March 5.

At the end of trading, the all-share index (ASI) also expanded from 196,807.15 ASI to 196,968.15 ASI, indicating a gain of 161 basis points.

On the trading floor, over 586.16 million shares, valued at N30.64 billion, were traded in 62,699 deals, down from the previous day’s 634.01 million shares, traded in 66,286 deals, worth N29,10 billion.

Top five gainers

  • Eterna’s share price increased by N3.85 kobo to rise from N38.50 kobo to N42.35 kobo per share.
  • Premier Paints’ share value grew by N1.30 kobo, from N13.30 kobo to N14.60 kobo per share.
  • Union Dicon ended trading at N16.40 kobo per share, from N14.95 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N1.45 kobo.
  • Fortis Global Insurance’s share appreciated by N0.13 kobo to end trading at N1.49 kobo, having opened with N1.36 kobo.
  • John Holt’s share value was up by N0.80 kobo, after closing at N9.45 kobo from N8.65 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • RT Briscoe’s share price depreciated by N1.34 kobo, dwindling from N13.40 kobo to N12.06 per share.
  • SCOA recorded a N3.80 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N34.35 kobo after opening with N38.15 kobo per share.
  • Associated Bus Company lost N0.69 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N6.24 kobo from N6.93 kobo per share.
  • Mecure recorded a N6.80 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N61.50 kobo after opening with N68.30 kobo per share.
  • Berger Paints reported a decline of N7.35 kobo from the previous share price of N74 to end trading at N66.65 kobo per share.

Top five trading equities

  • First HoldCo reported that 43.91 million shares valued at N2.27 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Access Holdings recorded 43.21 million shares valued at N1.12 billion.
  • Zenith Bank saw investors trade 39.98 million of its shares valued at N3.71 billion.
  • GTCO recorded 38.86 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N4.62 billion.
  • Jaiz Bank reported that traders exchanged 31.51 million shares valued at N323.41 million.
