Osimhen’s Hat-Trick Heroics Spark Super Eagles’ Thrilling 4-0 Victory Over Benin Republic

In a breathtaking display of attacking prowess, Nigeria’s Super Eagles stormed to a resounding 4-0 victory over Benin Republic in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match at the Goodwill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria, on Tuesday evening.

 

The Eagles, led by captain William Troost-Ekong, burst into life from the opening whistle, with Victor Osimhen scoring a lightning-fast goal within three minutes. The Galatasaray striker’s pace and precision proved too much for the Benin Republic defense, setting the tone for a dominant Nigerian performance.

Osimhen doubled the lead just before half-time, rising high to head home a Samuel Chukwueze cross. The Super Eagles’ momentum continued unabated in the second half, with Osimhen completing his hat-trick in the 51st minute, converting Moses Simon’s precise cross.

Nigeria’s qualification hopes now hinge on their performance as one of Africa’s four best runners-up, with the final qualification standings yet to be determined.
