The university town of Nsukka was agog on Friday, February 25, 2022 as Hon. Clinton I.  Ishiwu, popularly known as ‘ABOVE’, wedded his beautiful bride, Gloria, in a traditional ceremony that drew friends and associates from far and wide.

Friends and associates from all walks of life thronged the Nsukka town of Enugu State to mark the historic traditional marriage, themed ”ABOVE 2022”  and held right inside the open field of St. Charles’ Catholic Church  Opi, the bride’s hometown.

The security situation in the state notwithstanding, many influential personalities flew in from  Lagos and Abuja to rejoice with ‘Above’, whose associates said not a few Diaspora friends were also in attendance.

Recall that Enugu State had, on Friday February 25 banned tricycles, motorbikes and tipper-trucks following Wednesday February 23 election day violence that claimed at least five lives.

At least, four local council chairmen in the state, alongside state government appointees in their numbers, identified with the  marriage ceremony.  On the roll call for local government chairmen in attendance were, Hon. Solomon Izuchukwu of Udenu Local Government Area , Hon. C. Obeagu of Isi-Uzo, Hon. Celestine Nnadozie of Uzo-Uwani and  chairman of Nsukka Local Government, Barr. Walter Ozioko.

Renowned high-life band musician, the popular ‘Ayaka Ozubulu’ and DJ Blenko  performed to the delight of  guests, shutting down the whole arena with intriguing songs.

Popular Nsukka hospitality, food and event brands like Joy Restaurant, Deluxe Ushers, Touche Table Water, among others,  were on hand to  provide comfort and refreshment to guests.

Dressed in white Kaftans with red ‘Isiagu’ (lion head design) cloths to match, Clinton’s friends made the event colourful.  Yet, there was another group of friends in red ‘Isiagu’ shirts on black trousers with cap to match, displaying a distinct colour array as the merry and dance went on.

The mother-in-law and mother of the groom, representative father of the groom and siblings of both families were all dressed in expensive forest-green attires; their friends were adorned in blue-on-white exotic fabric and Red-on-white respectively.

A native of  Nru Nsukka, the groom, who is the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi  on Local Government Affairs, is said to be a player in the Oil and Gas sector. Friends said that, having amassed wealth in oil and gas business overtime, it was expected that Clinton would ”fulfill part of his destiny in getting married.” “Feb. 25th is the second phase of my life which is still part of fulfilling my destiny. I consider this a special month because February is a month of love,” ‘Above’  told the crowd in his appreciation message.

The grateful groom thanked  his  friends, who broke the odds to attend the marriage ceremony, saying, “To whom much is given, much is expected,”  an indication of his preparedness to reciprocate their goodwill in the future.

Describing his friends as  “supportive and jolly-good fellows” who watched his back at all times, ‘Above’,  ABOVE said he hardly had friends he would write off.

ABOVE is an old friend; he’s been a very good man, and that’s why you see the multitude here” one of his friends, SP David Williams Okechukwu, said.

“I didn’t expect any less of this. He’s a very nice person and will only be surprised if people didn’t turn out this much.”

Mr. Okoye Chukwuemeka, who also known identified the millionaire as ‘a brother, a friend and a business partner,’ claimed that Hon. Clinton (ABOVE) is a ”good person that gives in his best to  everything”, the reason for the large number of friends in attendance.

His elder brother representing his late father, Pa. Agu-Ishiwu, and his immediate younger brother, Collins U. Ishiwu wished their newly married brother  a long-lasting and fulfilling marriage.
