The equity market closed in positive territory for the second time this week as stocks rose by 0.04%. Investors traded N15.07bn worth of shares.

Over N125.64 billion was gained in the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), also known as the stock market, on Tuesday, January 27, as the market capitalisation closed at N106.08 trillion.

The market valuation of the NGX had closed trading at N105.96 trillion on Monday, January 26.

This followed a 196.26 basis points gain in the all-share index (ASI), which expanded from 165,517.56 ASI to 165,713.82 ASI.

On the trading floor, over 483.09 million shares, worth N17.37 billion, were exchanged in 41,499 deals, falling below the 601.64 million shares traded in 58,429 deals, valued at N17.30 billion, the day before.

Top five gainers

  • SCOA’s share price increased by N2.60 kobo to rise from N26.15 kobo to N28.75 kobo per share.
  • UHOM REIT’s share value grew by N7.80 kobo, from N78.45 kobo to N86.25 kobo per share.
  • Deap Capital ended trading at N8.63 kobo per share, from N7.85 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.78 kobo.
  • Morison gained N0.82 kobo to end trading at N9.09kobo, having opened with N8.27 kobo.
  • RT Briscoe’s share value was up by N0.65 kobo, after closing at N7.22 kobo from N6.57 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Austin Laz’s share price depreciated by N0.48 kobo, dwindling from N4.82 kobo to N4.34 kobo per share.
  • Neimeth recorded a N1.15 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N10.80 kobo after opening with N11.95 kobo per share.
  • Prestige lost N0.14 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N1.76 kobo from N1.90 kobo per share.
  • Africa Prudential recorded a N1.10 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N14.70 kobo after opening with N15.80 kobo per share.
  • Veritas Kapital reported a decline of N0.14 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N2.04 to end trading at N1.90 kobo per share.

Top five trading equities

  • Access Holdings reported that 26.45 million shares valued at N599.77 million were traded on its floor.
  • GTCO recorded 25.28 million shares valued at N2.48 billion.
  • NSLTECH saw investors trade 24.69 million of its shares valued at N23.76 million.
  • Japaul Gold recorded 21.40 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N54.22 million.
  • Tantalizer reported that traders exchanged 20.28 million shares valued at N72.73 million.
