Fani-Kayode Receives Letters of Credence, Set to Begin Diplomatic Mission in South Africa

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has received his Letters of Credence, clearing the way for him to assume office as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to South Africa, with concurrent accreditation to the Kingdom of Lesotho and the Kingdom of Eswatini, Prime Business Africa reports.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Fani-Kayode said he received the diplomatic documents on Monday after obtaining the required agreement from the host countries. The Letters of Credence were presented to him on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sola Enikanolaiye.

The former minister said he would now begin the process of reporting to Pretoria, where he will formally present his credentials to Cyril Ramaphosa before officially assuming his diplomatic responsibilities.

“I shall begin the process of reporting to Pretoria, presenting my Letter of Credence to His Excellency President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa and starting the great and important work that lies ahead,” he said.

Fani-Kayode, who served as Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation 20 years ago, described the appointment as a privilege and an opportunity to once again serve the country.

He expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him, saying he was grateful for the appointment and appealed for the prayers and support of Nigerians.
