BUA Group Signs Strategic Partnership with UAE Firms

February 16, 2026

BUA Group has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UAE-based AD Ports Group and MAIR Group in Abu Dhabi, in a deal aimed at strengthening industrial development, trade, and logistics between West Africa, the Gulf, and Asia.

The agreement follows last month’s signing of the Nigeria–UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which was signed under the invitation of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Officials say the MoU represents a tangible outcome of renewed Nigeria–UAE engagement and growing economic cooperation.

The partnership will focus on sugar refining, agro-industrial development, and integrated logistics solutions. Plans include the development of sugar refining and advanced logistics infrastructure at Khalifa Ports in the UAE to improve food security, value addition, and supply chain resilience.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu described the signing as “a significant industrial and trade breakthrough” and commended BUA Group Chairman Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu for aligning the company with the administration’s vision for Nigerian industrialisation. Tinubu added that the deal demonstrates that Nigerian companies are capable of competing on a global scale while helping to expand exports and attract foreign investment.
