Abbey Mortgage Bank Leads Gainers As Stock Market Cap Rises By N239.99bn

The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) said the market capitalisation of the bourse increased by N239.99 billion on Thursday, April 17, to N65.49 trillion.

According to data provided by the NGX, the stock market capitalisation rose from N65.25 trillion reported on Wednesday, April 16, after a 0.36 percent appreciation in the all-share index (ASI).

It was gathered that the all-share index appreciated from 103,851.88 ASI to 104,233.81 ASI.

Also, over 376.29 million shares were traded by investors in 11,204 deals, worth N7.90 billion, contrasting the 351,65 million shares, valued at N13,71 billion, traded in 12,141 deals the day before.

Top five gainers

Abbey Mortgage Bank’s share price increased by N0.81 kobo to rise from N8.15 kobo to N8.96 kobo per share.

Nigerian Breweries’ share value grew by N3.25 kobo, up from N36.20 kobo to N3.26 kobo per share.

Associated Bus Company ended trading with N1.42 kobo, from N1.30 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.12 kobo.

Livestock gained N0.80 kobo to end trading at N9.50 kobo, having opened with N8.70 kobo

Ecobank’s share value was up by N2.40 kobo, closing at N29.25 kobo from N26.85 kobo per share.

Top five losers

Sunu Assurance’s share price depreciated by N0.55 kobo, dwindling from N5.55 to N5 per share.

Ellah Lakes recorded a N0.33 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N3.05 after opening with N3.38 kobo per share.

Cornerstone lost N0.27 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N2.59 kobo from N2.86 kobo per share.

Sovereign Insurance reported a decline of 9.18 percent from the previous day’s share price of N0.98 kobo to end trading at N0.89 kobo per share.

Universal Insurance recorded a 7.55 percent decline in its share price to end trading at N0.49 kobo after opening with N0.53 kobo per share.

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange

Universal Insurance reported that 89.26 million shares valued at N44.36 million were traded on its floor.

Fidelity Bank recorded 49.52 million shares valued at N915.90 million.

Access Corporation saw investors trade 32.85 million of its shares valued at N715.32 million.

Zenith Bank recorded 15.57 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth 6785.44 million.

Nigerian Breweries reported 15.41 million shares valued at N555.57 million exchanged in investors’ hands.
