The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed a legal team which consists of 12 Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN), to represent the party at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
This was revealed in a statement signed by the APC National Legal Adviser, Ahmad Usman El-Marzuq, Esq., Who said the team is led by a renowned lawyer, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelEl-Marzuq, who is also a member of the legal team, said they are made up of “highly qualified and experienced lawyers to represent the Party at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
“The team is comprised of legal luminaries with vast experience in election petition matters, constitutional law, and litigation,” he said.
According to him, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN, is “a renowned lawyer who has successfully handled various high-profile election matters and other landmark cases.”
The Legal team is as follows:
Lateef Fagbemi, SAN (Lead Counsel), Ahmad Usman El-marzuq, ESQ. (Life Bencher), Sam Ologunorisa, SAN, Rotimi Oguneso, SAN, Olabisi Soyebo, SAN and Gboyega Oyewole, SAN.
Others are, Muritala Abdulrasheed, SAN, Aliyu Omeiza Saiki, SAN, Tajudeen Oladoja, SAN, Pius Akubo, SAN, Oluseye Opasanya, SAN, Suraju Saida, SAN, and Kazeem Adeniyi, SAN.
“We are confident that the legal team possesses requisite expertise and experience to ensure a successful outcome for the APC in the Presidential Election Petition matters” El-Marzuq stated.
Recall that after the presidential election was concluded with Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC declared winner and issued certificate of return, main opposition parties – the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Labour Party rejected the outcome and resolved to challenge it in court.
Lats week Friday, the parties approached the Abuja Court of Appeal standing as the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal with ex parte applications requesting permission to inspect electoral materials used in the presidential election. The request was subsequently granted by the Appeal Court panel led by Justice Joseph Ikyegh.
