Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has formally declared his intention to contest the Imo West Senatorial seat in the 2027 National Assembly election, saying he accepted the call to serve with “utmost humility” and commitment to the advancement of the people of the district.
Uzodinma made the declaration in a follow-up statement after reportedly appearing before the screening committee of the All Progressives Congress for the party’s National Assembly primary election.

According to the governor, leaders and people of Imo West Senatorial District had once again called upon him to serve, a responsibility he said he accepted with sincerity of purpose and dedication to public service.
“In furtherance of this responsibility, I presented myself before the leadership of our great party, the APC, and the Screening Committee for the National Assembly Primary Election,” the governor stated.
Uzodinma stressed that the senatorial ambition was primarily a mandate of the ruling party, describing himself as “a loyal and dedicated candidate” committed to advancing the vision and aspirations of the APC.
He praised the APC for what he described as its commitment to purposeful leadership and people-oriented governance across the country, adding that party members must continue to sustain the administration’s development agenda.
The governor also linked his senatorial aspiration to the #RenewedHope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying his goal was to provide quality representation, effective legislation and sustainable development for the people of Imo West and Nigeria at large.
“My aspiration to represent the good people of Imo West Senatorial District at the Red Chamber is inspired by the desire to consolidate on the gains of the Renewed Hope administration,” he stated.
