Equity Traders Partake In 54,212 Deals On NGX, Trade 758.98m Shares

Over N107bn Wiped Off NGX As UACN, Presco Shares Plunge

Over N468.58 billion was added to the market capitalisation of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Tuesday, January 6, pushing the bourse’s valuation to N102.27 trillion.

The market capitalisation of the NGX, also known as the stock market, increased from N101.80 trillion recorded on Monday, January 5, after the all-share index (ASI) appreciated by 732.86 basis points or 0.46 percent.

It was gathered that the ASI expanded from 159,218.22 ASI to 159,951.08 ASI.

On the trading floor, equity traders were involved in 54,212 deals, exchanging 758.98 million shares worth N19.86 billion, against the previous day’s N18.56 billion traded for 695.64 million shares in 56,632 deals.

Top five gainers

  • Jaiz Bank’s share price increased by N0.48 kobo to rise from N4.80 kobo to N5.28 kobo per share.
  • LOTUSHAL15’s share value grew by N8, from N80 to N88 per share.
  • Meyer ended trading at N14.30 kobo per share, from N13 per share – indicating an increase of N1.30 kobo.
  • Associated Bus Company gained N0.45 kobo to end trading at N4.96 kobo, having opened with N4.51 kobo.
  • Austin Laz’s share value was up by N0.51 kobo, after closing at N5.64 kobo from N5.13 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • ALEX’s share price depreciated by N2.40 kobo, dwindling from N24.10 kobo to N21.70 kobo per share.
  • Learn Africa recorded a N0.60 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N5.95 kobo after opening with N6.55 kobo per share.
  • Oando lost N3.40 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N40.80 kobo from N44.20 kobo per share.
  • UBA recorded a N2.85 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N43 after opening with N45.85 kobo per share.
  • Access Holdings reported a decline of N1.50 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N25 to end trading at N23.50 kobo per share.

Top five trading equities

  • Linkage Assurance reported that 51.63 million shares valued at N93.13 million were traded on its floor.
  • Sterling Financial Holdings recorded 49.14 million shares valued at N368.53 million.
  • Access Corporation saw investors trade 48.73 million of its shares valued at N1.17 billion.
  • Mutual Benefits recorded 34.67 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N141.96 million.
  • Regal Insurance reported 26.36 million shares valued at N33.62 million exchanged in investors’ hands.
