December 13, 2021
Nigeria’s representative at the ongoing 2021 Miss Universe beauty pageant Maristela Okpala on Monday has won the prize for the Best Cultural Costume of the competition.

The 28 year old miss Okpala who hails from Anambra state displayed the ‘Nmanwa’ masquerade in Sunday’s exhibition.
Mmanwa literally means: “The beauty of a child.”
Okpala is said to have engaged the services of a Filipino designer to work on the artistic piece.
The art work looked every inch like the Egyptian ‘pharaoh’ designs mixed with tinge of Ethiopian and South African cultures.
The 2021 Miss Universe beauty pageant is the 70th edition of the competition.
