Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho was not listed in Leicester City’s 4-0 thrashing of Newcastle United at the King Power Stadium on Sunday evening but international teammate Wilfred Ndidi was in action for 90 minutes.

The game was the second one which Iheanacho and Super Eagles prospect Ademola Lookman would be missing for the Foxes after they also missed the Europa League game against Napoli in Naples on Thursday.

Youri Tielemans’ brace the first from the penalty spot, Patson Saka’s and a late strike by James Maddison compounded the woes of Toons.

The victory takes Leicester City at 8th position with 22 points from 16 matches.

Samuel Chukwueze reached a major milestone for Villarreal as he came off the substitute bench after 62 minutes to replace Yeremi Pino in his 100th club football for the Yellow Submarine. Villarreal defeated Rayo Vallecano 2-0.

Alex Iwobi was missing in action as Everton slumped to a 3-1 defeat at Crystal Palace in Sunday’s Premier League game.

A brace from Conor Gallagher helped Crystal Palace return to winning ways.

After losing their previous three matches, a first win since the beginning of November was much needed for Palace boss Patrick Vieira but well deserved, with James Tomkins also on target for the hosts.

Salomon Rondon pulled one back for the Toffees with 70 minutes played but Rafael Benitez’s side were largely toothless again and suffered a seventh defeat from their last nine games.

Everton’s last trip to London two weeks ago had ended in defeat at Brentford, with boss Benitez preaching patience to a disgruntled fanbase, but Monday’s victory over Arsenal had eased some of the unrest.

The win lifts Palace up to 12th while Everton continue to struggle and are back in London on Thursday to face Chelsea.

And in the Bundesliga, Taiwo Awoniyi’s Union Berlin suffered a 1-0 loss in the hands of Greuther Furth.

Awoniyi was introduced in the 63rd minute but could not inspire his side to get anything from the game.

Udinese lost Isaac Success to an even later red card for a barge on Milan keeper Mike Maignan in Udinese’s 1-1 draw against AC Milan.
