Over N116.28 billion was wiped off the Nigerian stock market on Tuesday, April 29, following a decline in the value of shares of MTN Nigeria, Omatek and others.

This reduced the market capitalisation of the Nigerian stock market from N66.69 trillion on Monday, April 28, to N66.57 trillion.

Also, the all-share index (ASI) dropped from 106,116.18 index to 105,931.18 ASI.

Investors exchanged 733.05 million shares, worth N35,28 billion, in 16,619 deals, against the previous day’s 500.59 million shares, traded in 17,637 deals, worth N12.11 billion.

Top five gainers

Legend Internet’s share price increased by N0.75 kobo to rise from N7.50 kobo to N8.25 kobo per share.

Associated Bus Company’s share value grew by N0.17 kobo, up from N1.71 kobo to N1.88 kobo per share.

Cadbury ended trading at N32.15 kobo per share, from N29.25 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N2.90 kobo.

Champion Breweries gained N4.15 kobo to end trading at N48, having opened with N43.85 kobo.

Eterna’s share value was up by N3.95 kobo, after closing at N43.85 kobo from N39.90 kobo per share.

Top five losers

Livestock’s share price depreciated by N0.83 kobo, dwindling from N8.55 to N7.72 kobo per share.

Multiverse recorded a N0.75 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N7.05 after opening with N7.80 kobo per share.

MC Nichols lost N0.18 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N1.72 kobo from N1.90 kobo per share.

Omatek reported a decline of 9.23 percent from the previous day’s share price of N0.65 kobo to end trading at N0.59 kobo per share.

MTN Nigeria recorded a N15.50 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N240 kobo after opening with N255.50 kobo per share.

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange

Fidelity Bank reported that 285.15 million shares valued at N5.77 billion were traded on its floor.

MTN Nigeria recorded 86.85 million shares valued at N20.93 billion.

Access Corporation saw investors trade 35.56 million of its shares valued at N851.27 million.

Universal Insurance recorded 29.81 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N15.18 million.

GTCO reported 28.51 million shares valued at N1.93 billion exchanged in investors’ hands.
