Shehu Sani Likens Tinubu Saga To Lady Dumped When Close To Marriage

Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani has likened Bola Ahmed Tinubu political saga with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to that of a lady who was dated for seven years but dumped at the time of marriage because of her origin.

Ahead of APC primaries on 6th and 8th June, 2022, Tinubu had made bold claims to APC delegates in Ogun State that he made General Muhammadu Buhari the president of the country in 2015.

He also boasted how he installed Dapo Abiodun as governor of Ogun State and Yemi Osibanjo as vice president.

Coming under intense attack after the incident,  Tinubu who has not concealed his desperation to be president in 2023 under the ruling APC  is reported to have apologised to President Buhari and others, saying he did not mean to denigrate the office of the president.

But Shehu Sani, in his recent tweet, said:  “You date a lady for seven years and when it’s time for marriage, you explain that your parents will not approve of it because of where she comes from. That’s the situation of the ruling party.

This statement is related to the perceived travails of Bola Tinubu  in his party APC for years and the recent happenings around his presidential aspirations.

Tinubu had narrated how he was offered a running mate ticket during 2015 presidential election as a move to win the election, but some blocs rose against it.

He said:  “Buhari asked me to be his running mate. Firstly he contested for president with Okadigbo the flamboyant man, he lost, then he tried Ume-Ezoke another Igbo but he lost. President Buhari remarked that even if he brings the Pope from Rome to be his deputy, people will not vote for him. But Bola Tinubu who hasn’t lost any elections with six successive governors, come be my vice.

“The whole calculations favored us then but I suggested we build our party first. The entrance of some People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members into the party made Sen. Bukola Saraki to see that PDP will not get anything with the whole arrangement. If Buhari, a Muslim as president, myself as vice president another Muslim, Bukola Saraki, a Muslim too will not win as Senate president. That was how I was discredited.

“For party’s sake I tendered the name of Prof. Yemi Osibanjo, a Christian who was like a son to me. I gave my rights to him. I surrendered only his name out of the three names I was told to table.

“Now I said it’s my time. It’s not the matter of age, I’m educated and experienced. Bring me this presidency, it is my turn!”

However, President Buhari had charged 22 governors on the platform of APC to be objective in ensuring victory for the party.

He advised that their choice of candidate must be someone who would give the Nigerian masses a sense of victory and confidence even before the elections.
