Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the central figure in the dispute over the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), has maintained that he will clear his name in court, insisting he is not involved in any fraudulent activity as alleged by the Federal Government, Prime Business Africa reports.
Adeyemi, who says he served as Director-General of the disputed council, argued that the matter has now moved beyond public commentary and should be decided strictly through judicial proceedings.

He added that he was fully prepared for the legal process, noting that his legal team was already engaged. According to him, “Let the court take its course. My lawyers are involved, and everything will be properly addressed there.”

Adeyemi declined to respond in detail to questions about the funding structure of the council or salary payments to staff, saying such issues fall within matters before the court. He also suggested he was restricted from making extensive public statements due to ongoing proceedings.
The controversy intensified after the Presidency dismissed the PFIPC as a non-existent body, accusing Adeyemi of falsely presenting himself as its head. Government officials allege that he relied on forged documents and misrepresented official processes to give legitimacy to the organisation.
Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga described Adeyemi’s claims as deceptive, alleging that he constructed an elaborate set of false representations to mislead government institutions and members of the public. The Presidency further maintained that investigative findings pointed to forgery, impersonation, and financial misrepresentation involving accounts linked to the disputed entity.
Authorities say the Nigeria Police Force has already filed an eight-count charge against Adeyemi and two others at the Federal High Court in Abuja, with the case expected to proceed later in the month.
The government also insists that Adeyemi’s public assertions contradict earlier statements he allegedly made during investigations, adding that official warnings had been issued advising institutions and the public to avoid dealings with the purported council.

Adeyemi, however, continues to deny any wrongdoing, arguing that his actions were lawful and that internal disagreements contributed to the breakdown of relations with government officials. The Presidency has rejected this explanation, maintaining its position that no such agency exists within the current administration.
Beyond the competing narratives, the case has raised wider questions about administrative oversight within government structures particularly how an entity considered non-existent could operate visibly, engage officials, and circulate documentation over an extended period before being publicly disowned.
As legal proceedings advance, both sides remain firmly opposed: Adeyemi insisting on judicial exoneration, and the Federal Government pressing ahead with fraud and impersonation charges.
The court’s eventual ruling is expected to determine not only individual liability but also the credibility of the processes that allowed the dispute to escalate.
