Former Vice Chairman of the South West zone in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Bode George has assured that the party will produce a credible candidate at the PDP primaries ahead of the 2023 general elections reports Prime Business Africa.

George was responding to questions on the four-horse race for who emerges the consensus candidate for the party with the quartet of Atiku Abubakar, Bukola Saraki, Peter Obi and Nyesom Wike the gladiators competing to become the party’s flagbearer in the Presidential election.

Chief George was guest of Arise News on The Morning Show.

“I want to assure you that our party will do its very best ultimately make sure that God will drive our minds to select the best, acceptable candidate who will see Nigeria as a home because we are in dire straits in Nigeria,” the elder statesman told Arise News.

“I want to plead with our people because this coming election, the next one year will be so crucial in the order of security – both economic security and social services.

“We are drifting. It’s like we have a ship that is rudderless. If we come to the table or go the Convention and there are a few people who will be given transport money and they will not think and analyze critically all the contestants, then it would ne a very shuddy and unfortunate situation.

George revealed that the leadership of the party after several meetings and deliberations were convinced by the pedigree of the men hoping to become the country’s number one citizen.

“As an elder I have met and visited these people (Presidential aspirants) and we were all satisfied with how they want to salvage Nigeria and unite the party because a divided house is a defeated house. We can disagree on issues but must not be disagreeable.

“I will be meeting with them in my office today (Tuesday) in Lagos, both for the governors in Lagos and for the national level.

“We will look at it analytically and critically without biases and pray to God. We need to be prayerful in this country. We need a week to fast for God to direct us. These contestants are experienced, educated. We need God to help us select the nest candidate,” George stressed.
