A nurse in the Ahmed Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Zamfara State, Asma’u Lawali Bungudu, on Wednesday morning slumped and died while on duty.

She was said to have had no health challenges when she arrived at the hospital for work early on Wednesday but was confirmed dead a few hours after she resumed duty.

Auwal Usman, who is the spokesman of the hospital confirmed the incident, pointing out that Asma’u was at her duty post and had checked the blood pressure of about 30 patients before she complained about a cardiac issue to a doctor.

He added that the nurse immediately slumped after her complaints and doctors rushed to save her but unfortunately lost her.

“The medical doctors tried all they could to save her life but they couldn’t as she died instantly,” he added.

The hospital spokesman further said that the management team of the hospital led by the Medical Director, Dr Usman Muhammad Shanawa, has handed over the corpse to the relatives of the deceased.

When contacted, a family member of the late nurse confirmed that Asmau left home on Wednesday morning to the hospital where she works as a nurse without any health challenges.

“She was buried today (Wednesday) by 5 pm at Malan Abdurrahaman House, Magama Area, Bungudu according to Islamic injunction,” the relative added.
