International Energy Insurance Tops NGX Gainers List, Fortis Global Among Losers

The Nigerian bourse continued to contract on Friday, with the market capitalisation of the stock market declining by N257.06 billion, as the all-share index (ASI) plummeted by 0.16 percent.

According to the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), the market capitalisation decreased from Thursday’s N156.88 trillion to N156.62 trillion.

NGX said the all-share index (ASI) contracted to 242,619.2 ASI, from 243,017.38 ASI, representing a 398.18 basis points decline.

Investors exchanged 1.41 billion shares in 39,134 deals, valued at N45,31 billion, on Friday, compared to Thursday’s 4.23 billion shares, traded for N50.64 billion, in 41,454 deals.

Top Five Gainers

  • International Energy Insurance’s share price increased by N0.48 kobo, from N4.84 kobo to N5.32 kobo per share.
  • TransExpress share value grew by N0.25 kobo, from N2.59 kobo to N2.84 kobo per share.
  • Guinea Insurance’s share appreciated by 6.67 percent to end trading at N0.80 kobo, having opened with N0.75 kobo.
  • Regal Insurance’s share ended trading at N0.85 kobo per share, from N0.80 kobo per share – indicating an increase of 6.25 percent.
  • Japaul Gold share value was up by N0.15 kobo, after closing at N2.95 kobo, from N2.80 kobo per share.

Top Five Losers

  • Fortis Global Insurance share price depreciated by N0.27 kobo, dwindling from N2.90 kobo to N2.63 kobo per share.
  • Omatek recorded a N0.15 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N1.51 kobo, after opening with N1.66 kobo.
  • John Holt reported a N0.90 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N9.10 kobo, after opening with N10 per share.
  • RT Briscoe lost N1 in its share price, to sell at N11.60 kobo, down from N12.60 kobo per share.
  • Dangote Sugar reported a decline of N5.45 kobo, from the previous share price of N70, to end trading at N64.55 kobo per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • Fortis Global Insurance reported that 874.08 million shares valued at N2.37 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Cornerstone recorded 100.29 million shares valued at N506.53 million.
  • Universal Insurance saw investors trade 56.73 million of its shares valued at N44.46 million.
  • Sterling Financial Holdings Company recorded 53.25 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N402.87 million.
  • MTN Nigeria reported that traders exchanged 44.59 million shares valued at N31.37 billion.
