Ikeja Hotel, Unilever Lift Stock Market Cap By N792.58bn

At the close of trading on Friday, July 25, the market capitalisation of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) increased to N85.05 trillion, up from N84.26 trillion recorded on Thursday, July 24.

This represents an increase of N792.58 billion.

The 0.94 percent appreciation in the market capitalisation was driven by a 1,252.94 basis points recorded by the all-share index (ASI), which expanded from 133,199.99 ASI to 134,452.93 ASI.

Over 713,72 million shares were traded in 24,880 deals, valued at N24.23 billion, compared to the previous day’s 818,38 million shares, traded in 22,955 deals, worth N22.66 billion.

Top five gainers

  • Champion Brew share price increased by N1.12 kobo, to rise from N11.20 kobo to N12.32 kobo per share.
  • Ikeja Hotel’s share value grew by N2.10 kobo, from N21 to N23.10 kobo per share.
  • Unilever ended trading at N68.20 kobo per share, from N62 per share – indicating an increase of N6.20 kobo.
  • Enamelwa gained N2.45 kobo to end trading at N27 kobo, having opened with N24.55 kobo.
  • TIP’s share value was up by N1.46 kobo, after closing at N16.13 kobo from N14.67 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Tripple Gee’s share price depreciated by N0.39 kobo, dwindling from N3.90 kobo to N3.51 kobo per share.
  • Tantalizer recorded a N0.23 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N2.46 kobo after opening with N2.69 kobo per share.
  • Sunu Assurance lost N0.33 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N4.64 kobo from N4.97 kobo per share.
  • Ecobank reported a decline of N2 from the previous day’s share price of N34 to end trading at N32 per share.
  • Neimeth recorded a N0.31 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N6.50 kobo after opening with N6.81 kobo per share.

Top five trading equities

  • Access Holdings reported that 42.42 million shares valued at N1.18 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Universal Insurance recorded 40.68 million shares valued at N29.71 million.
  • Tantalizer saw investors trade 32.19 million of its shares valued at N83.12 million.
  • GTCO recorded 28.70 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N2.69 billion.
  • Ellah Lakes reported 26.34 million shares valued at N260.45 million exchanged in investors’ hands.
