The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 2,500 personnel and 50 operational vehicles across Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, with enforcement of a movement restriction scheduled to begin at 6 a.m., the agency said on Friday, Prime Business Africa reports.
The deployment includes seven heavy-duty tow trucks and six ambulances to manage traffic, clear road obstructions and provide emergency response during the election, the FRSC said in a statement.

The Osun Sector Command will provide 2,300 personnel, while 50 personnel each will be deployed from the neighbouring commands in Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo and Ogun states.
The FRSC said personnel and rescue equipment had been positioned at strategic locations across the state to support the movement of election officials, accredited observers and security personnel, while enforcing the restriction and no-movement order.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed said the agency would operate with professionalism, neutrality and respect for human rights while coordinating with the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security and other relevant agencies.
“Our mandate is clear: to ensure that the roads remain safe, orderly and accessible within the framework of the electoral security arrangements. We will be firm, professional and impartial in the discharge of our responsibilities,” Mohammed said.
The agency urged motorists, transport operators and other road users to plan their journeys ahead of the election, comply with lawful traffic directives and avoid restricted routes during the voting period.

Beyond enforcement of the movement restriction, FRSC personnel will conduct traffic control, crowd management, road clearance and rescue operations before, during and after the election. Officers will also be deployed to designated polling locations in coordination with the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies.
The FRSC said it would conduct a training workshop for personnel assigned to election duties, with officials from the agency, the police, the Independent National Electoral Commission, the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps expected to participate.
The agency will also inspect and certify vehicles provided by fleet operators to transport electoral materials, ensuring they meet prescribed safety and roadworthiness standards before deployment.
The FRSC said personnel on election duty had been directed to remain neutral, professional and respectful of citizens regardless of political affiliation, gender, religion or other considerations. Officers are also required to comply with the prescribed oath of neutrality under the Electoral Act.
