Chellarams, Oando, Others Increase Stock Market Cap By N314bn

On Tuesday, May 13, the equity capitalisation of the Nigerian stock market closed at N68.35 trillion, from the N68.04 trillion reported on Monday, May 12.

The N314.95 billion or 0.46 per cent increase in the market capitalisation was driven by Chellarams, Oando, among others.

Also, the all-share index (ASI) expanded by 501.13 basis points from 108,261.47 to 108,762.6 ASI.

After trading hours, 498,48 million shares exchanged investors’ hands in 14,916 deals, worth N10,78 billion, compared to the 414,57 million shares, worth N10.71 billion, exchanged in 16,664 deals the previous day.

Top five gainers

  • Chellaram’s share price increased by N1.04 to rise from N10.40 kobo to N11.44 kobo per share.
  • Oando’s share value grew by N4.50 kobo, up from N45 to N49.50 kobo per share.
  • Transcorp ended trading at N46.25 kobo per share, from N42.05 per share – indicating an increase of N4.20 kobo.
  • Beta Glass gained N17.60 kobo to end trading at N194.30 kobo, having opened with N176.70 kobo.
  • Caverton’s share value was up by N0.33 kobo, after closing at N3.68 kobo from N3.35 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • HMCall’s share price depreciated by N0.46 kobo, dwindling from N4.67 kobo to N4.21 kobo per share.
  • Academy recorded a N0.34 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N4.30 kobo after opening with N4.64 kobo per share.
  • UPDC lost N0.20 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N3 from N3.20 kobo per share.
  • Associated Bus Company reported a decline of N0.19 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N3.10 kobo to end trading at N2.91 kobo per share.
  • NPF Microfinance recorded a N0.11 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N2.03 after opening with N2.14 kobo per share.

  • Tantalizer reported that 57.80 million shares valued at N131.32 million were traded on its floor.
  • Access Corporation recorded 36.79 million shares valued at N782.31 million.
  • GTCO saw investors trade 31.84 million of its shares valued at N2.19 billion.
  • Fidelity Bank recorded 23.39 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N470.48 million.
  • Nigerian Breweries reported 21.03 million shares valued at N1.07 billion exchanged in investors’ hands.
