The former Labour Party spokesman further expressed appreciation to Ralphs Nwosu, former National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, for what he described as sustained efforts in stabilising the party amid internal and external pressures.
He also commended Dr Ekene Onwuka, Senior Special Assistant to Atiku on Special Duties, for contributing to efforts aimed at building a coordinated campaign structure ahead of the 2027 elections.
Okonkwo, who has recently emerged as a prominent voice within opposition realignments, said the appointment also reflects broader consultations within the coalition as it seeks to position itself as a viable alternative in the next general election cycle.
He thanked his family, supporters, and associates for their encouragement, adding that he would rely on continued support as he assumes what he described as a demanding but significant role.
The development comes amid ongoing political negotiations and restructuring within opposition blocs seeking to challenge the ruling party in 2027, with analysts viewing the appointment as part of efforts to consolidate messaging and reduce internal friction within the coalition.
