On the evening of May 25, 2023, Seun Kuti announced his departure for Zurich, Switzerland, where his eagerly anticipated concert would mark the commencement of his European tour.

Taking to Instagram, he posted a snapshot of himself aboard an airplane, accompanied by the exciting caption, “Euro tour kicks off tonight in Zurich.”

Originally scheduled to take place from May 20 to August 16, 2023, Kuti’s tour faced an unexpected setback when he was arrested on May 15, 2023. For six long days, Kuti remained in custody, uncertain of his future and the impact it would have on his musical aspirations. By sharing his unique blend of Afrobeat rhythms and socially conscious lyrics, Kuti aims to inspire and unite audiences through the universal language of music.

The significance of Seun Kuti’s resilience cannot be understated. As the son of the legendary Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, he carries the weight of his father’s legacy and is committed to continuing the fight against social injustice through his art.

The incident with the police serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by activists and artists alike, who often find themselves at odds with established systems of power.

Through his lyrics, Kuti addresses a range of pressing issues, including corruption, inequality, and the abuse of power, sparking important conversations that resonate far beyond the confines of his concerts
