We've No New CP Yet - Lagos Police Command

Lagos State Police Command have said no new Commissoner was deployed to the state.

The state command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement posted on his official Twitter handle on Friday evening, said the Lagos State Police Command’s Commisissoner for now remains Abiodun Alabi.

This has cleared the air about the rumours of redeployment of the state police command’s CP.

Some media platforms had reported that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, had recommended the appointment of CP Frank Mba as the next Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, and CP Idowu Owohunwa for that of Ogun State, to the Police Service Commission.

CP Mbah, a former Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja, is the current Commissioner of Police in charge of Federal Border Patrol branch at the Department of Operations, while CP Owohunwa is currently the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the IGP.

Mbah had been PPRO at Lagos Command before being redeployed to Abuja.

Hundeyin in the statement said the state command is yet to receive any new commmisoner and urged the public to regard as fake, information suggesting that the state command’s head has been redeployed.

The statement reads: “The Lagos State Police Command has been inundated with requests for clarification on the status of the Commissioner of Police in the Command.

“We wish to state categorically that the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State is still CP Abiodun Alabi, fdc, mnim, psc. For the avoidance of doubt, no Commissioner of Police has been posted to Lagos State.

“Members of the public are therefore urged to disregard fake news making the rounds that a new Commissioner of Police has been deployed to Lagos State Police Command.

“It is hoped that this clarification would halt the barrage of calls to officers of the Command which has resulted in needless distraction and waste of valuable time.

“The Lagos State Police Command will keep residents and the good people of Lagos State updated whenever the need arises,” Hundeyin stated.
