The zoning committee of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has recommended an open race for the party’s 2023  presidential ticket.

The PDP’s 37-person zoning committee, which took the decision at the Benue State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, on Tuesday, cited ‘exigency of time’ for its recommendation.

The committee attributed its recommendation to the high voter turnout in the North and the party’s determination to return to power.

According to a leaked document obtained by Prime Business Africa, the committee stated that although zoning was affirmed in the party’s constitution, exigencies of time made it to dump the arrangement.

Earlier, this multipurpose newspaper had reported that the Chief Executive Officer of Ovation Magazine Dele Momodu who is one of the PDP candidates vying for the Presidential seat in 2023 asserted that the north has been united in their drive to remain in leadership which the south has not done reports Prime Business Africa.

Momodu was live on Arise TV’s The Morning Show on Tuesday where he spoke on a wide range of issues including why he claimed to be a Yoruba man despite originally hailing from Edo State.

Speaking on the subject of the PDP zoning committee determining on Tuesday the zoning of the presidential candidate for the 2023 election, Momodu said that the process should have been made an open one.

“Those fighting are not fighting for Nigerians but for power. That’s why this election will be for the highest bidder.”

Momodu who is called Bob D by those close to him revealed that he has an app that ensures that most impoverished Nigerians receive financial assistance.
