The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rejected the newly constituted Kano State Chapter  Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  in compliance with the order of the Federal High Court that restrained the party from tampering with the authentic state executive.

Prime Business Africa obtained this from a letter dated  April 6, 2022, signed by its Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, and addressed to the party’s national chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu.

The letter read: “Please refer to your letter Ref. PDP/DOM/GF.2/VOL1M/22-055 dated 30th March 2022 in which you notified the Commission of the decision of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) to appoint a Kano State Caretaker Committee.

Meanwhile, this multipurpose newspaper had earlier reported that the zoning committee of the PDP had resolved to make the party’s presidential ticket an open contest for all regions of the country.

The 37-member PDP zoning committee led by Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom was set up on 16 March and inaugurated on 24 March, 2022, to determine suitable zoning formula for the 2023 presidential election.

The committee which met on Tuesday at Abuja said its decision to throw the presidential ticket open to candidates from all regions in the country was based on the exigency of time, even as it maintained that zoning remains an acceptable practice as stipulated in the party’s constitution.
