Lokpobiri, Ekpo, NCDMB Boss, Others Applaud Ezeobi’s Book On Local Content

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and his Gas counterpart, Rt. Hon Ekperikpe Ekpo, and Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr Felix Omatsola Ogbe, have applauded a management staff of the NCDMB, Dr Obinna Ezeobi, for his book on local content and strategic communication.

Dr. Ezeobi’s book titled: “Nigeria’s Local Content: A Journey of Strategic Communication and Economic Transformation,” detailed how Nigeria’s local content policy has been promoted and advanced over the past 15 years largely by the skillful use of communication campaigns, astute stakeholder management techniques, and effective collaboration amongst major participants in the oil industry.

Ezeobi presented copies of the book to Lokpobiri, Ekpo, and Omatsola at their offices.

Ogbe, who hailed Ezeobi on the feat, said the board would procure copies of the book.

Ezeobi also presented copies of the book to the Special Advisor to President Bola Tinubu on Energy, Mrs. Olu Verheijen, ex-NCDMB Executive Secretary, Engr. Simbi Wabote.

Mrs. Olu Verheijen commended Ezeobi for crafting such a high-quality book about a significant economic policy of the Federal Government.

The 267-page book is divided into five sections, each of which focuses on different but related themes. Some of them include the evolution of the oil and gas industry and local content, as well as current issues like the impact of oil companies’ divestitures and Presidential Directives on the development of local content.

Among the sections are the case studies on the 10-year strategic roadmap for Nigerian content and the major initiatives related to Nigerian content, as well as how stakeholder engagement and strategic communication made these initiatives possible.

It also contains a treatise on local content compliance and enforcement, along with the results of an empirical study on the influence of Nigerian content communications on compliance by oil and gas companies.
