The former Senate President recommended that the Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions conduct an open and honest investigation, citing his own experience during the 8th Senate when he voluntarily appeared before the committee to address allegations against him.

Saraki stressed that the investigation should aim to uncover the truth and protect the Senate against any perception of involvement in or tolerance of lawbreaking.

He also stressed that due process should be followed, and where anyone is found to have committed any wrongdoing, it should be pointed out and corrected.

Notably, Saraki clarified that his position is not to take sides but to ensure that an investigation is conducted to protect the Senate’s integrity. He reiterated the importance of strengthening the institution, which he believes is sacred and pre-eminent.

Prime Business Africa reports that Akpabio’s wife, Unoma, had sued Senator Natasha for defamation, seeking N250 billion in damages. The controversy has sparked widespread debate, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the allegations.
