In a sweeping development, Betta Edu, the suspended Minister of humanitarian affairs, and poverty alleviation, has been released on bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

This action is part of an ongoing probe into an alleged N585 million cash transfer scandal within her ministry.

Mandated to report daily to the EFCC’s office, Edu’s suspension by President Bola Tinubu underscores the seriousness of the investigation.

Simultaneously, former Minister Sadiya Umar-Farouq, under the scrutiny of financial misappropriations during her tenure, was also released on bail, directed to join daily interrogations at the EFCC’s headquarters in Abuja.
