What Does It Mean To Be A Global African? Eliot Clarke, Oyinsan, Mbamalu, Wolfe, Omari For Sankofa Live Webinar

Sankofa Pan African Series is organising a virtual conference to raise awareness around the need for effective global African movement.

The conference, themed ‘What does it mean to be a Global African in the 21st Century’, will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022, at 1:30 pm Eastern Time, 6:30 pm UK, 7:30 pm WAT (Nigeria).

Sankofa is a platform exploring Pan African Experiences, through organised thematic discourses on African historical values. The goal is to achieve an Afro-sociological regeneration by documenting African histories and values to be passed on to the younger generation.

The summit will have a Canadian poet and playwright, Professor George Elliott Clarke, as keynote speaker. Professor Clarke is a literary critic who served as the Poet Laureate of Toronto from 2012 to 2015 after which he served as the 2016–2017 Canadian Parliamentary Poet Laureate.

He is also known for chronicling the experience and history of the Black Canadian communities of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, creating a cultural geography that he coined ‘Africadia.’

Other speakers include, Dr. Bunmi Oyinsan, Renowned educationist and international development strategist; Meskerem Wolle, a leader, founder and innovator; Michael Omari, CEO of 2Nachek; and Dr. Marcel Mbamalu, CEO of Newstide Publications, publishers of Prime Business Africa.

Dr. Oyinsan is the producer and presenter of the Sankofa Pan African Series and sankostorybooks.com. She is a writer, producer/presenter, who has published novels, a book for young adults, illustrated books for children, several short stories in anthologies and literary journals. She has also edited a collection of short stories for the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA).

Wolle is a leader, founder, and innovator, who has founded and led initiatives globally and innovated structures for a fair, cooperative, and secure world.

Omari is a Pan-African Content Creator and African Analyst who founded 2nacheki, a Digital media platform thats aims to achieve media independence for Africa.

Dr. Mbamalu, a seasoned development journalist, scholar and media entrepreneur,  is a former Editor at The Guardian, Nigeria.
