UBA Hosts Business Series To Empower MSME’s On Wealth Management

The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has announced changes to its USSD banking charges, effective June 3, 2025.

In line with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) directive, USSD banking charges will no longer be deducted from customers’ bank accounts. Instead, charges will be deducted directly from customers’ mobile airtime balances.

New Charging Structure

Under the new billing structure, each USSD session will attract a charge of ₦6.98 per 120 seconds. Customers will receive a consent prompt at the start of each session, and airtime will only be deducted upon their confirmation.

Alternative Banking Options

Customers who do not wish to continue using USSD banking under the new model can discontinue use of the USSD channel. Alternative digital banking options, such as the UBA mobile app and internet banking platform, remain available for customers’ convenience.

Bank’s Commitment

The bank remains committed to delivering secure, accessible, and customer-friendly banking services. The change is part of the NCC’s End-User Billing (EUB) model, aimed at streamlining billing processes for USSD services.
