Stock Market Rebounds With N3trn Gain, DAAR Communication, TIP Lead Recovery

NGX Market Cap Rises By N405bn Amid Gains In Abbey Bank, Nigerian Breweries

After trading closed on Friday in the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), the stock market capitalisation settled at N147,10 trillion, up from N143.94 trillion on Thursday.

The increase represents a N3.15 trillion gain for the companies on the gainers list.

This followed a 4,918.37 basis points increase recorded by the all-share index (ASI), which appreciated from 224,321.97 ASI to 229,240.34 index.

The number of shares traded dropped to 454.91 million on Friday, with investors sealing 48,214 deals, valued at N27.6 billion, down from the 855.40 million shares, worth N28.42 billion, exchanged in 51,609 deals on Thursday.

Top Five Gainers

  • DAAR Communication’s share price increased by N0.15 kobo, from N1.50 kobo to N1.65 kobo per share.
  • TIP’s share value grew by N2.35 kobo, from N23.50 kobo to N25.85 kobo per share.
  • Universal Insurance’s share appreciated by 10 percent, to end trading at N0.88 kobo, having opened with N0.80 kobo.
  • Omatek’s share ended trading at N1.76 kobo per share, from N1.60 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.16 kobo.
  • Airtel Africa’s share value was up by N479.40 kobo, after closing at N5,274, from N4,794.60 kobo per share.

Top Five Losers

  • International Energy Insurance’s share price depreciated by N0.52 kobo, dwindling from N5.22 kobo to N4.70 kobo per share.
  • Meyer recorded a N2.05 decline in its share price to end trading at N18.55 kobo, after opening with N20.60 kobo.
  • Fortis Global Insurance reported a N0.35 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N3.22 kobo, after opening with N3.57 kobo per share.
  • Sovereign Insurance lost N0.11 kobo in its share price, to sell at N1.95 kobo, down from N2.06 per share.
  • Veritas Kapital reported a decline of 5.07 percent, from the previous share price of N1.38 kobo, to end trading at N1.31 kobo per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • Zenith Bank reported that 49.78 million shares valued at N5.15 billion were traded on its floor.
  • TIP recorded 49.31 million shares valued at N1.18 billion.
  • Chams saw investors trade 28.37 million of its shares valued at N119.05 million.
  • United Bank for Africa (UBA) recorded 27.84 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N1.07 billion.
  • GTCO reported that traders exchanged 26.14 million shares valued at N3.15 billion.
