The Federal Government has renamed the PTDF College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna, in honour of the late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, Prime Business Africa reports.
The announcement was made by the management of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), which disclosed that the change followed a directive by President Bola Tinubu.
Under the new designation, the institution will now be known as the General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua University of Geological Sciences and Engineering Technology.

According to PTDF, the renaming is intended to honour the legacy of the late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua and recognise his contributions to national unity and Nigeria’s democratic development.
The fund described the move as a strategic institutional change and assured stakeholders that the university’s core mandate remains unchanged.
PTDF said the institution would continue to focus on world-class research, specialised training and the development of engineering technology solutions for Nigeria’s oil, gas and renewable energy sectors.
The management also noted that all ongoing academic programmes, partnerships and operational activities would continue without disruption under the institution’s new name.
The former PTDF College of Petroleum and Energy Studies was established to strengthen capacity development in Nigeria’s energy industry through advanced education and research.
