Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has described his re-election victory as a “humbling vote of confidence” from the people of the state, following a decisive win in which he reportedly secured all 16 local government areas and about 85 percent of valid votes cast, Prime Business Africa reports.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Oyebanji, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), winner of the governorship election held on Saturday after he polled 319,224 votes, defeating his closest rival, Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 40,543 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Dare Bejide, garnered 12,872 votes.

INEC data showed that 384,940 voters were accredited for the election, while 382,109 votes were cast. Of this figure, 375,777 were valid votes, with 6,332 rejected ballots recorded across the state.
The results confirmed that Oyebanji won in all 16 local government areas of Ekiti State, a rare clean sweep that underscores the breadth and uniformity of his support base across both urban and rural communities. The scale of the victory effectively consolidates the All Progressives Congress’s dominance in the state and reflects one of the most decisive gubernatorial outcomes in Ekiti’s recent political history.
Reacting to the outcome, Oyebanji expressed gratitude to voters, describing the result as a clear affirmation of his administration’s performance and a shared commitment to continuity in governance. He said the voice of the people had “reverberated from every part” of the state and signalled a unified desire for sustained development and stability.
He added that the mandate placed greater responsibility on his administration to deepen development across all communities, stressing that there are “no winners or losers,” but rather a united Ekiti moving collectively toward progress.

Oyebanji pledged to continue to govern with humility, fairness, and dedication, assuring that his second term would further extend government presence to households and communities across the state.
The outcome significantly strengthens the APC’s political control of Ekiti State while reinforcing Oyebanji’s position as a dominant incumbent with broad statewide appeal.
