The all-share index (ASI) increased by 0.23 percent on Friday, January 16, leading to the market capitalisation of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) rising by N30.45 billion.

It was gathered that the ASI expanded by 72.21 basis points, from 166,057.29 index recorded on Thursday, January 15, to 166,129.5 index.

Also, the market capitalisation of the NGX, also known as the Nigerian stock market, grew from N106.32 trillion to N106.35 trillion.

Equity traders exchanged 539.88 million shares in 48,023 deals, valued at N16.71 billion, compared to the 1.03 billion shares traded in 51,227 deals, worth N31.59 billion, on Thursday.

Top five gainers

  • Redstar Express’ share price increased by N1.20 kobo to rise from N12 to N13.20 kobo per share.
  • NCR’s share value grew by N11.65 kobo, from N116.90 kobo to N128.55 kobo per share.
  • SCOA ended trading at N14.90 kobo per share, from N13.55 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N1.35 kobo.
  • Omatek gained N0.16 kobo to end trading at N1.77 kobo, having opened with N1.61 kobo.
  • Deap Capital’s share value was up by N0.40 kobo, after closing at N4.46 kobo from N4.06 per share.

Top five losers

  • McNichols’ share price depreciated by N0.58 kobo, dwindling from N6.58 kobo to N6 per share.
  • Legend International recorded a N0.45 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N5.50 kobo after opening with N5.95 kobo per share.
  • LotusHal15 lost N8 in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N102 from N110 per share.
  • Cornerstone recorded a N0.44 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N6.35 kobo after opening with N6.79 kobo per share.
  • C&I Leasing reported a decline of N0.55 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N8.75 kobo to end trading at N8.20 kobo per share.

Top five trading equities

  • Zenith Bank reported that 54.54 million shares valued at N3.79 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Jaiz Bank recorded 41.48 million shares valued at N359.36 million.
  • NSLTECH saw investors trade 37.73 million of its shares valued at N39.22 million.
  • Access Holdings recorded 30.52 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N699.19 million.
  • Lasaco reported that traders exchanged 27.23 million shares valued at N68.33 million.
