Patience Leonard, PBA Journalism Mentee28-year-old Nigerian business mogul, Dr. Williams Uchenna Obetta who owns SPD Group of Companies has secured a multi million dollar worth of international contract of branding wears for The Money Team (TMT) group owned by Floyd Mayweather.
Floyd Mayweather who was an American boxer and now a promoter of the sport, has won over fifteen major world championships from super featherweight to light middle weight.
The first ever NFT boxing tournament was organised to take place in Dubai in May. It will be featuring the fight between The Money Team (TMT) ) vs Dangerous Don Moore (DDM) and others.
The event was scheduled to hold on May 14th, 2022 in Middle East city, but later rescheduled to June 11th 2022. This was after the news of the passing away of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nayan, the President of United Arabs Emirate (UAE).
Dr. Obetta who hails from Nsukka, Enugu State has successfully run a chain of businesses under the SPD Group including Instant Laundry (UAE and Nigeria), D-Tech Electrics (UAE), Club Link (UAE), SPD Ent (Nigeria), Beta Wears (Nigeria and UAE) and O-Beta Transports (Nigeria).
In an interview with Prime Business Africa, Obetta disclosed that his Beta Wears has only been in existence for four years and this recent deals all happened in Dubai. While TMT happened in Dubai but was sealed in Abuja, Nigeria, DAMAC was secured in Dubai.
Commenting on the DAMAC deal, Obetta told Prime Business Africa, that the story is a long one. He stated that DAMAC is a real estate company under EMAR and further revealed what the acronym stand for.
“D is for discreet, you can keep a secret. (You have to agree to this before any deal with them.) A is for absolute, for you know your mind. M is for mystery, the part of you that cannot be explained. (Damac building remains a mystery to the world). A is for agreeable, the best side of you! C is for cuddle, those intimate moments you cherish. (Why it’s one of the best real Estate company in the world)”.
Expressing his gratitude over the partnership, Williams wrote on his facebook page that, “After securing the DAMAC contract on April 17th, God surprised me again with another multi-million dollar contract earlier this month as my fashion company (Beta Wears) would be handling all the wears and branding of the TMT group, alongside all the NFT Boxing crew.
“God has indeed been faithful to me this new year and I can’t appreciate him enough. Securing over $3 million contract within a space of one month can only be made possible by God.”
He continued “I’m happy that my four years in the business of fashion is now recognised at the world stage. What more can I ask from God? I have worked earnestly in different spheres of business, I’m hoping that in the coming years, my other businesses would be recognized too. God is indeed in charge.”
Moreover, it was revealed that NFT is on a project to take African boxing and wrestling to a whole level of importance. TMT, DDM in partnership with SPD group will set up a TMT African base, in Lagos Nigeria.
