The strengthened presence is aimed at countering armed groups that exploit difficult terrain, mobility and concealment to evade ground forces, the NAF said.
The service said its aircraft would be used to locate, disrupt and degrade hostile elements, restrict their freedom of movement and create opportunities for ground forces to consolidate gains.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, said the changing security environment required timely intelligence, responsive airpower and closer coordination between air and ground forces.
The NAF said it would continue to operate with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies while taking measures to protect civilians during military operations.
