Production Cost Gulped More Than Half Of Fidson's Revenue In 2025

Fidson Healthcare’s revenue reached N74.48 billion in the first half (H1) of 2026, compared to the N62.64 billion generated by the pharmaceutical company in H1 2025, representing an 18.90 percent growth.

The company also recorded a double-digit or 14.93 percent growth in its cost of sales, which gulped N42.45 billion in H1 2026, compared to the N36.93 billion incurred in the corresponding period the year before.

According to Prime Business Africa’s (PBA) analysis of Fidson’s unaudited report and financial statements for the period ended June 30, 2026, cost of sales gulped 56.99 percent of turnover, down from the 58.96 percent recorded in H1 2025.

With revenue growth outstripping cost of sales, Fidson’s gross profit increased by 24.61 percent to N32.03 billion in the first half of 2026, exceeding the N25.70 billion achieved in the same period last year.

However, the company’s earnings from other gains declined to N445.88 million during the period under review, compared to the N451.68 million generated in the first six months of 2025, indicating a 1.28 percent drop.

It was gathered that administrative expenses accounted for N9.55 billion in the first six months of this year, up by 47.21 percent when compared to the N6.48 billion gulped in H1 of 2025.

Also, selling and distribution expenses increased by double-digit or 55.60 percent to N8.13 billion during the period under review, rising above the N5.22 billion incurred in the first half of the previous year.

However, the company strengthened its financial position by reducing net foreign exchange (FX) loss to N259.86 million in the first half of 2026, compared to the N2.07 billion posted in the corresponding period last year.

With net FX loss declining by 87.50 percent year-on-year, Fidson’s operating profit climbed by 18.25 percent, according to analysis by Prime Business Africa, from N12.16 billion to N14.38 billion.

In addition to the aforementioned performance, Fidson’s finance cost dropped by 9.75 percent year-on-year, from N3.22 billion to N2.90 billion, while finance income grew by 343.27 percent, from N50.45 million to N223.66 million.

Following the impressive topline and operational performance, Fidson saw a 30.11 percent growth in its profit before tax (PBT), which grew from N8.99 billion in H1 2025 to N11.69 billion in H1 2026.

Out of the pretax profit, Fidson paid income tax of N3.97 billion in the first half of this year, compared to the N2.96 billion filed in the same period in 2025, indicating an increase of 34.05 percent.

After the tax deduction, Fidson recorded N7.72 billion in profit after tax (PAT) between January and June 2026, up by 28.16 percent when compared to the N6.02 billion reported in H1 2025.

Meanwhile, in 2025, Fidson lost some market share to MeCure and Neimeth.
