Over N1.16 trillion was lost on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Tuesday, after a sell-off in Thomas Wyatt, Ava Capital and other stocks.
Following the loss, the market capitalisation of the Nigerian stock market decreased to N159.25 trillion, from N160.42 trillion reported on Monday.

During trading, over 3.90 billion shares were traded by investors in 45,608 deals, worth N32.38 billion, compared to the 1.13 billion shares exchanged in 59,185 deals on Monday, valued at N27.01 billion.
Top Five Gainers
- UPDC REIT’s share price increased by N1.35 kobo, from N13.50 kobo to N14.85 kobo per share.
- FTN Cocoa share value grew by N0.80 kobo, from N8.10 kobo to N8.90 kobo per share.
- C&I Leasings’ share appreciated by N0.45 kobo to end trading at N5.90 kobo, having opened with N5.45 kobo.
- Sovereign Insurance’s share ended trading at N1.90 kobo per share, from N1.78 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.12 kobo.
- Regal Insurance share value was up by 6.33 percent, after closing at N0.84 kobo, from N0.79 kobo per share.
Top Five Losers
- FGSUK2032S5’s share price depreciated by N24.99 kobo, dwindling from N125 to N100 per share.
- Thomas Wyatt recorded a N0.32 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N2.89 kobo, after opening with N3.21 kobo.
- Ava Capital reported a N0.95 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N8.95 kobo, after opening with N9.90 kobo per share.
- International Energy Insurance lost N0.27 kobo in its share price, to sell at N4, down from N4.27 kobo per share.
- International Breweries reported a decline of N0.70 kobo, from the previous share price of N11.70 kobo, to end trading at N11 per share.

- Fortis Global Insurance reported that 3.29 billion shares valued at N9.57 billion were traded on its floor.
- TransExpress recorded 84.58 million shares valued at N181.90 million.
- Access Holdings saw investors trade 66.12 million of its shares valued at N1.86 billion.
- Consolidated Hallmark recorded 54.33 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N379.41 million.
- Fidelity Bank reported that traders exchanged 46.85 million shares valued at N1.02 billion.
