NGX Sheds N1.16trn After Sell-Off In Thomas Wyatt, Ava Capital

The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) lost N598.82 billion on Tuesday, following a 0.37 percent decline in the all-share index (ASI).

According to the NGX, the loss reduced the market capitalisation of the Nigerian stock market to N158.01 trillion, from Monday’s N158.61 trillion.

Similarly, the all-share index slumped by 927.7 basis points to 244,802.83 ASI, from the previous day’s 245,730.53 ASI.

The value of transactions on the NGX decreased to N28.6 billion, with over 1.56 billion shares traded in 53,853 deals, down from the N37.85 billion exchanged for 923.01 million shares in 72,544 deals, on Monday.

Top Five Gainers

  • FGSUK2032S5’s share price increased by N22, from N103 to N125 per share.
  • ACACAP share value grew by N0.90 kobo, from N9.05 to N9.95 kobo per share.
  • NREIT’s share appreciated by N10 to end trading at N113, having opened with N103.
  • Livestock’s share ended trading at N8.65 kobo per share, from N7.90 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.75 kobo.
  • Neimeth share value was up by N0.70 kobo, after closing at N9, from N8.30 kobo per share.

Top Five Losers

  • FGSUK2031S4’s share price depreciated by N19.89 kobo, dwindling from N99.90 kobo to N80.01 per share.
  • Multiverse recorded a N2.55 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N22.95 kobo, after opening with N25.50 kobo.
  • LivingTrust reported a N0.38 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N3.42 kobo, after opening with N3.80 kobo per share.
  • McNichols lost N0.60 kobo in its share price, to sell at N5.45 kobo, down from N6.05 per share.
  • Thomas Wyatt’s reported a decline of N0.39 kobo, from the previous share price of N3.95 kobo, to end trading at N3.56 kobo per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • Japaul Gold reported that 904.40 million shares valued at N2.71 trillion were traded on its floor.
  • Sterling Financial Holdings Company recorded 53.97 million shares valued at N431.81 billion.
  • FCMB saw investors trade 49.44 million of its shares valued at N544.75 million.
  • Chams recorded 44.80 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N198.99 million.
  • Neimeth reported that traders exchanged 42.43 million shares valued at N327.82 million.
