NGX Says Stock Market Loses N3.63trn, Traders Conduct N20.92bn Deals

The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) said the market capitalisation dropped to N150.84 trillion on Wednesday, after the all-share index (ASI) appreciated by 5,668.65 basis points.

The market capitalisation decreased by N3.63 trillion from the N154.48 trillion recorded at the end of trading on Tuesday.

According to the bourse, the all-share index depreciated from 240,743.19 ASI to 235,074.54 index.

The NGX also said the value of transactions recorded on Wednesday was N20.92 billion in 46,239 deals for 488.08 million shares, surpassing the N39.34 billion traded on Tuesday for 564.90 million shares in 49,230 deals.

Top Five Gainers

  • TAJSUKS2’s share price increased by N9.97 kobo, from N90.01 to N99.98 kobo per share.
  • Skyaviation’s share value grew by N15.45 kobo, from N155.75 kobo to N171.20 kobo per share.
  • International Energy Insurance’s share appreciated by N0.59 kobo, to end trading at N6.70 kobo, having opened with N6.11 kobo.
  • Tantalizer’s share ended trading at N4.60 kobo per share, from N4.30 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.30 kobo.
  • Omatek’s share value was up by N0.11 kobo, after closing at N2.04, from N1.93 kobo per share.

Top Five Losers

  • Dangote Cement’s share price depreciated by N107, dwindling from N1,070 to N963 per share.
  • BUA Cement recorded a N37.80 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N340.20 kobo, after opening with N378.
  • Geregu Power recorded a N101.90 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N917.40 kobo, after opening with N1,019.30 kobo per share.
  • Custodian lost N8.10 kobo in its share price, to sell at N73.15 kobo, down from N81.25 kobo per share.
  • Academy reported a decline of N0.80 kobo, from the previous share price of N8.10 kobo, to end trading at N7.30 kobo per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • First HoldCo reported that 57.38 million shares valued at N3.51 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Chams recorded 42.30 million shares valued at N166.88 million.
  • Access Holdings saw investors trade 36.07 million of its shares valued at N831.06 million.
  • Linkage Assurance recorded 32.03 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N49.39 million.
  • Sterling Financial Holdings Company reported that traders exchanged 29.39 million shares valued at N224.75 million.
