Nigerian Stock Market Closes High With NGX Valuation Rising To N154trn

The equity market closed in positive territory for the second time this week as stocks rose by 0.04%. Investors traded N15.07bn worth of shares.

Trading closed on a positive note on Tuesday in the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), after the all-share index (ASI) expanded by 2,540.08 basis points, leading to a N1.64 trillion increase in the bourse’s market capitalisation.

The all-share index expanded to 240,743.19 ASI, from the previous day’s 238,203.11 ASI.

Consequently, the market capitalisation increased to N154.48 trillion, rising from the N152.83 trillion reported the day before.

The volume of shares traded in the stock market increased to 564.90 million in 49,230 deals, worth N39.34 billion, up from the 475.81 million shares exchanged in 63,567 deals, valued at N36.49 billion, on Monday.

Top Five Gainers

  • FGSUK2032S7’s share price increased by N86.26 kobo, from N113.73 kobo to N200 per share.
  • TAJSUKS1’s share value grew by N9.09, from N90 to N99.99 kobo per share.
  • Guinea Insurance’s share appreciated by N0.10 kobo, to end trading at N1.10 kobo, having opened with N1.
  • Airtel Africa’s’ share ended trading at N4,358.80 kobo per share, from N3,962.60 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N396.20 kobo.
  • International Energy Insurance’s share value was up by N0.55 kobo, after closing at N6.11 kobo, from N5.56 kobo per share.

Top Five Losers

  • Redstar Express’ share price depreciated by N2.75 kobo, dwindling from N27.60 kobo to N24.85 kobo per share.
  • Premier  Paints recorded a N3.35 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N30.40 kobo, after opening with N33.75 kobo.
  • TransExpress recorded a N0.44 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N4.04, after opening with N4.48 kobo per share.
  • Royal Exchange lost N0.15 kobo in its share price, to sell at N1.45 kobo, down from N1.60 kobo per share.
  • Abbey Mortgage Bank reported a decline of N0.85 kobo, from the previous share price of N9.15 kobo, to end trading at N8.30 kobo per share.

  • Fidelity Bank reported that 59.37 million shares valued at N1.07 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Zenith Bank recorded 49.53 million shares valued at N5.85 billion.
  • Dangote Sugar saw investors trade 43.11 million of its shares valued at N3.12 billion.
  • Chams recorded 39.51 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N156.46 million.
  • Access Holdings reported that traders exchanged 30.70 million shares valued at N703.62 million.
