NGX Records N146bn Increase In Market Cap — Now Worth N126.58trn

On Monday, March 9, the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) saw its valuation increase to N126.58 trillion, from the N126.43 trillion reached on Friday, March 6.

The valuation of the NGX, also known as the stock market, increased by N146.87 billion following a 228.82 basis points gain by the all-share index (ASI).

According to the NGX, the index expanded from 196,968.15 ASI to 197,196.97 ASI.

Over N31.22 billion was exchanged for 762.52 million shares in 86,488 deals, compared to the N30.64 billion traded for 586.16 million shares on Friday, in 62,699 deals.

Top five gainers

  • Conoil’s share price increased by N16.90 kobo to rise from N169 to N185.90 kobo per share.
  • Legend Internet’s share value grew by N0.64 kobo, from N6.40 kobo to N7.04 per share.
  • Omatek ended trading at N2.42 kobo per share, from N2.20 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.22 kobo.
  • LotusHal15’s share appreciated by N9.60 kobo to end trading at N105.61 kobo, having opened with N96.01.
  • NGX Group’s share value was up by N15.05, after closing at N166 from N150.95 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • ALEX’s share price depreciated by N1.55 kobo, dwindling from N15.50 kobo to N13.95 kobo per share.
  • SCOA recorded a N3.40 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N30.95 kobo after opening with N34.35 kobo per share.
  • RT Briscoe lost N1.19 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N10.87 kobo from N12.06 per share.
  • Sunu Assurance recorded a N0.47 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N4.32 kobo after opening with N4.79 kobo per share.
  • Union Dicon reported a decline of N1.60 kobo from the previous share price of N16.40 kobo to end trading at N14.80 kobo per share.

Top five trading equities

  • Fortis Global Insurance reported that 127.45 million shares valued at N184.23 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Access Holdings recorded 48.26 million shares valued at N1.22 billion.
  • Zenith Bank saw investors trade 39.72 million of its shares valued at N3.69 billion.
  • Chams recorded 30.07 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N117.62 billion.
  • Jaiz Bank reported that traders exchanged 27.27 million shares valued at N292.04 million.
