NGX Rebounds With N683bn Gain As Market Cap Settles At N122.23trn

The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) recovered from the slump recorded on Tuesday, February 17, with a N683.62 billion gain as the market capitalisation closed at N122.23 trillion on Wednesday, February 18.

During trading the previous day, the NGX’s market capitalisation closed at N121.55 trillion.

Also, the all-share index settled at 190,427.96 ASI, from the 189,362.94 ASI reported the day before, representing a 1,065.02 basis points gain.

On the trading floor, over 3.66 billion shares were exchanged in 68,693 deals, valued at N61.88 billion, compared to the 1.19 billion shares traded in 86,607 deals, valued at N60.19 billion, on Wednesday.

Top five gainers

  • Skyway Aviation’s share price increased by N11.70 kobo to rise from N117 to N128.70 kobo per share.
  • Mansard’s share value grew by N1.55 kobo, from N15.50 kobo to N17.05 per share.
  • Beta Glass ended trading at N498.50 kobo per share, from N453.20 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N45.30 kobo.
  • ZICHIS Agro’s share appreciated by N1.30 kobo to end trading at N14.36 kobo, having opened with N13.06.
  • Japaul Gold’s share value was up by N0.30 kobo, after closing at N3.335 kobo from N3.03 per share.

Top five losers

  • FGSUK2032S7’s share price depreciated by N13.99 kobo, dwindling from N114 to N100 per share.
  • Deap Aviation recorded a N0.70 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N6.30 kobo after opening with N7 per share.
  • Mecure lost N9.35 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N84.25 kobo from N93.60 kobo per share.
  • Vitafoam recorded a N12.95 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N116.85 kobo after opening with N129.80 kobo per share.
  • Union Dicon reported a decline of N2 from the previous share price of N20.40 kobo to end trading at N18.40 kobo per share.

Top five trading equities

  • FCMB reported that 2.94 billion shares valued at N35.87 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Chams recorded 59.27 million shares valued at N249.01 million.
  • NSLTECH saw investors trade 52.28 million of its shares valued at N104.53 million.
  • Mutual Benefit recorded 37.59 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N165.31 million.
  • Access Holdings reported that traders exchanged 34.76 million shares valued at N876.84 million.
