July 15, 2026

Air Peace has confirmed that one of its Airbus A320 aircraft sustained significant damage on the ground at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (MMA1) in Lagos after a baggage conveyor belt vehicle operated by the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) crashed into the aircraft’s engine, Prime Business Africa reports.

The airline said the incident occurred on Tuesday shortly after Flight P47427 from Kano had landed and passengers had safely disembarked.

According to Air Peace, the impact caused extensive damage to the aircraft’s engine, rendering the Airbus A320 unserviceable.

The airline explained that the affected aircraft had been scheduled to operate multiple flights across its domestic network over the coming days. As a result, several flights are expected to experience delays, while others may be cancelled as the airline adjusts its fleet to minimise the operational disruption.

Air Peace apologised to passengers whose travel plans may be affected by the incident, assuring them that its operations and customer service teams are working to provide alternative travel arrangements and the necessary assistance to impacted customers.

It added that it is working closely with NAHCO and the relevant aviation authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and implement measures to prevent a recurrence.

The incident is expected to temporarily affect Air Peace’s flight operations on some domestic routes as the airline deploys alternative aircraft and adjusts its schedule to mitigate the disruption.
